Powerguard is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of central battery system and static inverter central battery systems for emergency lighting. From design to manufacture, we are able to custom build to your exact specifications. Our highly efficient systems are fully scalable, so we are able to offer any desired output. For more complex systems we are able to offer technical expertise and design advice.

Our manufactured central battery and emergency lighting systems can be customised to include:

– AC input – AC/DC output
– Can be supplied with or without batteries

How Does a Static Inverter Work?

A static inverter is similar to a central battery system, in that the device is designed for use in an emergency lighting system. Therefore, if the power goes down or the mains power is unable to operate normally, the static inverter powers lighting along emergency exit routes and is typically able to do so for either one or three hours.

Static inverters are typically used in industrial or commercial settings, this ensures that everyone in this environment have a safe and practical means of exiting a building in an emergency.

A static inverter will typically be connected to the mains electricity to ensure it is charged and ready to go at any given moment. Three to four hours of usage will typically require around 24 hours of consistent charge.

Static inverters must meet the criteria of the EN50171:2001, which outlines the requirements for all central power systems (including central battery systems), and what function they must perform.
